    UMJ FKM Students Take Part in Youth Event Road to COP28 Discussing Climate Change
    Student participants from various universities while listening to the Road to COP 28 activities, at the Manggala Wanabakti Building, Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK), Thursday (12/10/23).
     
     

    Students from the Faculty of Public Health, University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (FKM UMJ) took part in the Road to COP 28 United Arab Emirates event entitled Youth Event: Reimagining a Greener Indonesia with Youth-Led Action , at the Manggala Wanabakti Building, Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK) , Thursday ( 12/10/23).

    The Conference of Parties (COP) is a conference of countries around the world discussing climate change which is held every year. The 28th COP will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 30 November-12 December 2023.

    Adipatra Kenaro and Arija Taufiqqrahman are FKM UMJ students who were delegates to take part in various discussion sessions. This activity presented 24 delegates, 9 of whom were activists on environmental issues, forestry climate and new renewable energy in Indonesia, both from Bumi Village, Green Leadership Indonesia, Carbon Ethic, Guerilla, Solar Chapter and FPCI.

    Also present was the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Drs. Alue Dohong, M.Sc, Ph.D., Director General of Sustainable Forest Management (PHL) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) Agus Justianto, CEO of Rakyat Merdeka Group Kiki Iswara Darmayana, Founder of the Society of Renewable Energy (SRE) Zagy Yakana Berian, to students from various campuses in Indonesia, environmental activists, from the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Russia, Colombia, Brazil, Ghana, the United States, Thailand and other European countries.

    The speakers discussed various topics including efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions ranging from technology and innovation, inclusivity, community empowerment, and green finance. The result of this dialogue is a White Paper which will be used as recommendation material for the Indonesian Government and will be brought to COP 28 in Dubai, next November.
