    Menpora Officially Opens the U-23 Menpora Cup at the UMJ Football Stadium

    The U-23 Student Menpora Cup will take place from 8 to 28 October at two different locations, the Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta (UMJ) and the University of Indonesia (UI). UMJ will host until the quarter-finals.

    This activity, which was attended by 32 teams from universities throughout Jabodetabek to West Java, was a collaboration between the Indonesian Football Fan Academic Forum (FAPSI) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora RI).

    The U-23 Student Menpora Cup was officially opened symbolically with the first kick taken by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, who was accompanied by the Chancellor of UMJ, Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Sc., as a signal for the match to start.

    The Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, expressed his pleasure at seeing the opening of the Menpora Cup held at UMJ. "We agree that the opening must start from UMJ, because I really know how Muhammadiyah is committed to sports. "We took the symbol for the U-23 Student Menpora Cup starting from UMJ," explained Dito in his speech.

    Furthermore, Dito stated that he was very committed to supporting Muhammadiyah in sports development. Through the U-23 Student Menpora Cup, he invited the public to provide encouragement and support for young Indonesian athletes.

    On the same occasion, FAPSI Advisor and UMJ Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Sc., also welcomed the implementation of the U-23 Student Menpora Cup. According to Ma'mun, appointing UMJ to host the opening of the Menpora Cup was the right choice. Ma'mun also explained the history of the All Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), which is closely related to Muhammadiyah.

    "The support of the Minister of Youth and Sports who immediately appointed UMJ as the host is certainly not wrong. "If we talk about the history of PSSI, it is also the history of Muhammadiyah," said Ma'mun.

    The general chairman of FAPSI, Dr. Amsori Baharuddin Syah, M.Si., that the history of football is very closely related to Muhammadiyah. He also hopes that by choosing UMJ as the host for the opening of the Menpora Cup for U-23 students, he can spread the spirit of student revival in football.

    Not only that, Amsori explained that this activity was created as a result of research that had been carried out, namely that the golden age of football athletes ranges from the ages of 18 to 23. This was the impetus for the implementation of the Student Menpora Cup. Amsori also gave an example of how Japan has many quality players who come from students.

    "Of course I hope that in the future there will be a special formulation of assistance and support for students in sports development," concluded Amsori.

    The first match for the U-23 Student Menpora Cup pitted Muhammadiyah University Jakarta (UMJ) against National University (UNAS) which was won by UMJ with an aggregate score of 12-0.
